Made it to beautiful Red Rock Country!

Left Albuquerque and headed west into the sunset - not a good idea for driving! Couldn't see the beautiful landscape so stopped at an Indian Reservation Casino where they had a few RV sites. Wonderful, friendly folks for $20 a night let Isabella and I park in a cute little lot. Signs on the path to nearby McDonalds said "beware of rattlesnakes"! so I didn't take her for any evening strolls.

Was up early, even with the time zone change, and on the road before 8am headed to amazing Arizona. The mountains and red rock formations are beyond words. If you have never driven I-40 through this area, en route to Flagstaff, you HAVE to do it! Turned south on I-17 toward Sedona area (did I ever say Sedona is my all time favorite city in North America? If I could afford to live here, I would - and yes, it is within a days drive of those precious grand babies I am working so hard to get to!!).

Made it to Camp Verde, Zane Grey RV Park, 8.5 miles east of I-17 by 1pm!! No issues. Well, just one. Coming south on I-17 from Flagstaff you have to decline from 7000 ft elevation to about 3000 in 18 miles. The signs warn truckers (that would be me with my Diesel) to "save your brakes, only XX miles to go" meaning those of us with air brakes should not lean on the brakes!!!! Harrowing experience and thank the good Lord there was a rest stop 2/3 of the way down. We stopped so I could breath again and try to stop shaking my hands!! But again, with angels on the hood and God as my pilot, we made it.

Now awaiting my dear friend Mary who is driving up from Scottsdale today! Girls time and slumber party in SueCanDo. We have no official plan but hope to get into Sedona for a hike and maybe dinner?

The adventure is also a mental, emotional challenge. SueCanDo has amazing support and angels, though, so we will do it!

Hugs and Prayers - especially to those who have always dreamed of doing this but lacked courage or resources. I am doing this for us ALL! Grand Babies Here We Come!

About Me

SueCanDo, named by a dear friend who departed this planet much too young, will strive to be a place for inspiration, clarity and enlightenment. My friend and I  had just reconnected and were having daily emails and weekly conversations that lasted long into the early mornings.

Still hundreds of miles away, I was looking forward to finally spending quality time with him after decades of missing his stories and hugs in person. A brief weekend in April, 2018, confirmed we were going to have many great adventures. Then he had an accident on one of his favorite motorcycles on one of his favorite roads after having just eaten his favorite hamburger at his favorite joint on 101 in northern CA. The shock has worn off, but I still miss what should have been.

So Mike, thanks to you and your "beady brain", here is SueCanDo, even without you the name lives on!

And, these are the Grand Adventures, after the Grand Purge, leading up to quality time with my Grand Babies!! This is a record for them to one day review and laugh with "Gammie"!
